Roberta F. Kennedy passed on peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on September 23, 2021 after a yearlong illness. Bobbie, as she was known by her friends and family, was born in Northampton Massachusetts on October 2, 1944 to her parents Mary E. (McCool) and Robert F. Ryan. She graduated from St. Michael’s High School in Northampton in 1962 and went on to graduate from Lowell General Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. She met Richard J. Kennedy in high school, and later married him on June 25, 1966. They had a long happy marriage and he will miss her dearly. She was a loving and proud mother of three children. They are Roberta A. Milliken married to Rick; Richard R. Kennedy married to Monica; and Patrick M. Kennedy married to Jessi. She was fondly known as Nanny to her grandchildren, Alexandra A. Milliken, Christopher A. Milliken married to Margaret, Jackson T. Kennedy, Lily Kathleen Kennedy, Emma June Kennedy and Mary Ryan Kennedy, and her great grandson William A. Milliken. She is also survived by her brother Thomas Ryan, and sisters Mary Elizabeth “Mamie” Labelle and Kathleen Baye, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. After a brief stint living in New York City, where she worked an as RN, Richard joined the Marine Corps and as a result they lived in several places over the next three years. While Richard was in Vietnam she cared for her two young children while awaiting his safe return. Soon after his return they moved to Buffalo, New York where they lived from 1970 to 1976. In 1976 they moved to Reston Virginia and lived in Soapstone Cluster until 1987 when they moved to Waterview Cluster on the Lake Anne side of Reston where they would remain. Bobbie began her nursing career in New York City and then paused to raise her young children. When Patrick, the youngest, started school she returned to work at Terraset Elementary as a school nurse and administrative assistant for several years. After that she dedicated herself to psychiatric nursing for over twenty years at Springwood and then at Graydon Manor before retiring. Bobbie was an avid reader who shared many books with her friends and family. She was an excellent cook who loved to try out new recipes in addition to preparing family favorites. Her children and grandchildren will miss calling her on the phone to get her culinary advice but will continue to share the family standards. Bobbie was active in her community and particularly in Waterview Cluster where among other things she served as Secretary of the Board. Bobbie always had a beautiful flower pots in front of her house in addition to a wonderful patio garden in the back where many hours were spent sharing conversations and laughs with friends and family. She continued to expand her horizon by reading books, watching PBS News Hour, reading the Washington Post and New York Time up to her last days. She was always willing to speak up and stand up for what she believed. Bobbie was a good friend to many. One friend recounted that she looked out for their youngster in the neighborhood, and one time the toddler snuck out their back door and was coming across the bridge behind their house and was promptly returned home with a smile. Although she was not a dog owner she befriended the neighborhood dogs. Another friend wrote in a note “Throughout the many years, her small and large selfless deeds, her acts of kindness and unconditional love were writ large in our lives.” Bobbie and Richard enjoyed exploring the world together. She was fortunate enough to travel with Richard both across the country and abroad over the last twenty years. They enjoyed hikes along the Potomac River, museums, cultural celebrations and art festivals, especially the Reston Art Festival. She loved the beach and her family. To that end she enjoyed the 25-year tradition of family beach week. She and her whole family would meet at a house on the beach for one glorious week, every summer. There would be hours spent on the beach, sitting in beach chairs, soaking up the sun and enjoying the ocean. Her last week at the beach was in June of 2019, due to the pandemic. Her family will continue to feel her presence at family beach trips to OBX in the coming years. Bobbie will be missed greatly by her friends, family and mostly by her husband, Richard. Her life will be celebrated at St. Thomas a Becket Catholic Church, and the date will be added here when it is finalized. She will be buried in Arlington Cemetery at a later date.

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
