Obituary of William Francis Casey

Korean War veteran and long-time Sterling resident William F. “Bill” Casey, Jr. died January 18 from complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease. He was 86.

He was born August 11, 1932 in Greenfield, MA, the son of the late William and Irene Casey.  He attended Boston University briefly before he enlisted in the Army, serving nearly three years as a medic during the Korean War. Upon his return he re-enrolled at Boston University. Shortly before his graduation he married Helen Kermath, with whom he shared a 59-year marriage until Helen’s passing in 2016. He had a long career with the federal government, most recently with the Treasury Department, retiring in 1987.

He is survived by his four children: daughter Anne Griffin (Ken) of Leesburg; sons Eric Casey of Arlington (Jane), Carl Casey of Fairfax, and Mark Casey (Jackie) of Sterling; granddaughters Catherine Casey, Sarah Casey, and Nicole Griffin; grandsons Tyler Griffin, Kyle Casey and Ryan Casey; and great granddaughter Adeline Davis.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, VA, followed by interment at Sterling Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
