Obituary of Amy Ruth Tempel Hébert

Amy Ruth Tempel Hébert, 44, of Falls Church, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019, surrounded by friends and family. Amy was an amazing wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Amy was born August 25, 1974, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Ted and Joey (Peterson) Tempel. Amy married Charles Hébert on October 8, 2000, in Reston, Virginia. She graduated from Herndon High School (1992), graduated from the University of Virginia (1996) with a double major in Mathematics and Economics, and obtained her Master’s Degree in Economics from Virginia Tech (2000). Amy was an economist for almost a decade before making a career change to follow her passion to teach. She was a middle-school math teacher at Washington Irving Middle School in Springfield, Virginia. Amy’s most cherished milestone was becoming a mother with the arrival of Abigail (2008) and Lauren (2013).

Amy was a dedicated volunteer in the community, including serving as the Belvedere Elementary School PTA president. In addition to volunteer work, Amy enjoyed yoga, dancing, travel, theater, and music.

Amy is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters, Abigail and Lauren; parents, Ted and Joey; brother, Mark; and beloved extended family including many nieces and nephews. Her strength, determination, generosity, and tenderness will always be with those who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 25th from 5-8 pm at Adams-Green Funeral Home (721 Elden St, Herndon, VA 20170) and the Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 26th at 2:00 pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (1133 Reston Avenue, Herndon, VA 20170) with a reception to follow.
