Obituary of David Charles Traub
David C. Traub died peacefully on Feb. 8, 2019.
Born in Elgin Il on Feb 19, 1953, he along with his wife Dianna of 46 years was a long time resident of Herndon VA. He is survived by 2 brothers; James Zachery of Champagne Il., Gary Traub of Bativia, Il.
Dave was a machinist by trade. With his analytical mind he taught himself to write software in the very early days of home computers. As engineering moved into the modern age, he used these skills to program new machinery to craft precision parts used by the aerospace, military and other industries. Dave was always delighted to see a new rocket launched into space which included a component he had played a part in creating.
Dave enjoyed fishing, was a backyard bird watcher, and a passionate chess player. He also played guitar in his younger days and was a devoted fan of the Grateful Dead. Their song "Brokedown Palace" is a beautiful tune for listening as we consider how he touched our lives. He is remembered affectionately for his wit, humor, and kindness. Dave will be greatly missed by family and friends whom he loved and dearly loved him, including "Jasper" his dog .
Many thanks go to the exceptional nurses who got to know him and cared for him tenderly in his last days. He truly appreciated each of them and their unique kindness.
A private memorial will be planned for a later date.
