Obituary of Clarence Henderson

Clarence J. Henderson of Sterling, VA  passed away peacefully at Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, on Sunday, February 10, 2019  with his daughter, Susan, by his side. His family is rejoicing today because this extraordinary man will not have to spend another day in excruciating pain.

Our Dad was born on December 30, 1932  in Ridgefield Park, NJ son of the late Clarence and Mabel Henderson.  He was a bit mischievous as a child, but would protect his baby sister, Lois, at all costs. A machinist by trade, he spent 2 years in the Army as a medic and got his pilot’s license before meeting the love of his life, Jean Mary Nelson. They were married for 35 years.

Our Dad was amazing. He worked hard, loved life and adored his ever-growing family. He enjoyed the outdoors, working on cars, going to the beach and taking things apart and putting them back together again. He leaves a hole in all of our hearts which will never be filled.

His survivors include his sister, Lois Heinrich and her husband Wilbert of Ridgefield Park, NJ; his children, Ginger Gearhart (Rob), Chuck Henderson (Lana) and his youngest daughter, Sue Sabock who for many years was his primary care giver and his guardian angel. Clarence leaves grandchildren Michael Gearhart (Ashley), Jessica Rapoza (Ryan), Ryan Gearhart (Jacqueline), Sarah Kincheloe (Brad), Steven Sabock, Samuel Sabock (Caroline), Robert Henderson and Stephanie Henderson; and his 5 great granddaughters Taylor Rapoza, Kaylyn Johnston, Sydney Rapoza, Lauren Kincheloe and Catherine Kincheloe.

A service for our precious Dad will be held on Wednesday, February 13th at 1:00 pm at Adams – Green Funeral Home in Herndon, VA with a viewing taking place one hour before the service.

The family would like to thank Dr. Alok Rustogi, the nurses and the entire staff at the Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their tireless care and compassion. We would also like to acknowledge Nurse Jackie Westberry who served as his home health nurse for almost 13 years. Finally, we would like to thank the staff from Capital Caring Hospice whose professionalism and TLC were greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers donations made by made to Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Leesburg, VA or to Capital Caring
