Obituary of Geraldine Phelps

Geraldine L. Phelps “Geri”, 71, of Centreville, VA, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2019 after a valiant fight with breast cancer. She was born on September 26, 1947 to Helen Les and late Theodore Les in Chicopee, MA. Geri graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1965 and received her Bachelors of Nursing from D’Youville College in 1969. 

Geri was predeceased by her loving husband, Rick, of 34 years, as well as her father, Theodor Les, and brother in law, Michael Placzek. Geri and Rick lived in Centreville, VA for 32 years where they raised their beautiful family. Geri is survived by three children; Heather Phelps, of Ashburn; Eric (Lauren) Phelps of Richmond; Nicole Phelps, of Reston. She is also survived by two sisters, Deborah Placzek and Cynthia (Robert) King, grandson, Hayden Phelps, and seven nieces and nephews. 

Geri accomplished many roles throughout her life which include being dedicated homemaker, nurse, and customer service manager. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh and smile. Geri treasured her children and embraced every moment with them, especially her newest role as “Gigi”. She was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

The family will receive friends at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA 20179 on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 from 4-8pm. The funeral mass will be held Thursday, February 21^st at 10am at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 13807 Poplar Tree Rd, Chantilly, VA 20151. The burial concluding the mass will be at 1pm at Quantico National Cemetery.
