Obituary of Joan Estelle Marshall

Joan Estelle Marshall, the first of 3 daughters born to the late James Ramon Carr and Dora Odessa Carr, was born on February 13th, 1939 in Washington, DC.  Joan was raised in Herndon, Virginia and was a lifelong resident of Fairfax County, Virginia where she attended and received her primary and secondary education through the Fairfax County Public School System.

After graduation Joan began her working career and during this time she met her future husband Willis Marshall. In February 1963 Joan and Willis were married. From this union they had 3 Children: Christopher, DeAndre, and Tiffany.

Joan was a devoted Wife, Mother, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend to all who had the opportunity to meet her. Blessed with a gentle spirit, all who interacted with Joan were left in a better place.  God, family, hard work, and opportunity were the pillars which were a priority in the Marshall household.

Joan loved her Church Chantilly Baptist Church and loved playing the piano there as well as playing the piano at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church for many years.

For many years Joan also had a passion for providing child care services for many in her extended family.

Joan has earned her angle wings and has now been reunited in heaven with: her husband Willis Marshall, her son DeAndre Marshall, and her daughter Tiffany Marshall. Joan is survived by her son Christopher (Honey), 2 Sisters: Jean Warren (John) and Clara Carr, 4 Grand Children: Christopher, Kristen, Ashley, and Brittany, and 5 Great Grand Children.  Joan also leaves behind a host of:  Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, Colleagues, and Friends.
