Obituary of James Eber Elliott III

James Eber Elliott III was born on July 12, 1934 as the oldest child of James Eber Elliott Jr. and Florence Mabel Elliott.  He and his five siblings were born and raised together in Philadelphia, PA.

Jim was a graduate of the class of 1953 at Franklin High School in Philadelphia.  He served our country in the Army from 1958-1962. While stationed in Philadelphia, he met his wife, Virginia Parro, of Youngstown, OH and they were married on June 18, 1960.  Jim and Ginny were blessed with three sons:  James Eber Elliott IV, Jeffrey Edward Elliott, and John Edward Elliott and settled in Cinnaminson, NJ.  Jim graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Temple University in 1962.

Jim was a Certified Public Accountant and specialized in state, federal, and international taxes.  He began his career at Price Waterhouse before taking a position with Atlantic Richfield Company in 1970.  Jim’s work at Arco took him from NJ to Hacienda Heights, CA, back to Cinnaminson, then to Littleton, CO and then back to Hacienda Heights.  He left Arco in 1982 and took a position as the Corporate Tax Manager with LaFarge Corporation and moved to Richardson, TX.  When the company headquarters moved in 1987, they relocated to Herndon, VA where they have lived ever since.

Jim and Ginny have been blessed with nine grandchildren:  John Edward Elliott Jr, Michelle Elizabeth Elliott-Momon, Emily Catherine Elliott, Steven Jeffrey Elliott, James Eber Elliott V, Kyle David Elliott, Paul Croy Elliott, Philip Michael Elliott, and Brian William Elliott.  His grandchildren were the apples of his eye and he loved to spend time with them.

Jim had many interests including playing cards (pinochle, bridge, cribbage, and gin), going to the casinos, bowling, listening to music, and watching the Philadelphia Eagles. Last year’s Super Bowl LII win was the culmination of over 60 years of fandom.  Jim will especially be remembered for his kind heart as he tenderly cared for his elderly Aunt Anna, Mother, and Uncle Bill in their later years.  He was a trusted confidant who was always willing to help others.  His siblings, children, and grandchildren all looked to him as a leader and for his guidance and wisdom.

Jim is survived by his wife, three sons, three daughter-in laws (Kristen, Renea, and Cathy), his nine grandchildren, his grandson-in-law (TJ Momon), his siblings:  Richard (Alice) Elliott, Florence Pilkus, William (Marge) Elliott, and Judith (John) Golden, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Elliott, and his brother-in-law Joseph Pilkus.

Public visitation will be held at Adams-Green Funeral Home on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 5PM-8PM at 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA 20170.  Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11AM at Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church located at 43115 Waxpool Road, Broadlands, VA 20148.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church.
