Obituary of Edward Francis DiCampli

Edward F DiCampli was born on July 7, 1926, one of seven children of Alexander and Mary DiCampli of Philadelphia PA.

Ed is a graduate of the class of 1944 at John Bartram High School in Philadelphia.  Upon graduation he proudly served our country in the Navy from 1944-1946 during WWII, earning ribbons for the European Theater, Pacific Theater, American Theater, and the World War II Victory Medal.  After the war, Ed followed his father’s 50 year career and started work with the B&O Railroad in Baltimore. He met his wife of 67 years, Betty J Klingler of Lewisburg, PA and they were married in 1952. Ed received an associate’s degree in electronics from Temple University while working a full time job and starting a family of five children: Elizabeth (Betty), Maria, Jeanette, Edward, and James.

After graduation Ed took a job with Brewer Co. and traveled the country maintaining medical equipment in hospitals. In 1966 Ed was employed with IBM building tape disk drives for computers and worked on many projects, the last one building submarine sonar systems before his retirement in 1991. During retirement Ed tirelessly volunteered helping family, friends, and neighbors with his considerable handyman skills. He enjoyed wood working and left many pieces of memorabilia behind.

Ed is survived by his wife Betty, four children and three grandchildren:  Sarah Boyd, Matthew Kornbluth, and Jessica DiCampli.
