Obituary of Mary M Anderson

Mary Moran Anderson, 81, of Herndon, Virginia died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 16, 2019.  Mary was born on December 8, 1937 in Altoona, PA to Gerald and Adeline (Vizzini) Moran.  She graduated in 1955 from St. Mildred's High School in Laurel, MD and went on to work for the Navy Department in Washington, DC.  She married Clarence (Andy) W. Anderson, Jr on May 11, 1963 at St. Mary of Mills Catholic Church in Laurel, MD.  In 1973, Mary and her family moved to Herndon, VA where she attended mass and sang in the choir at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, sang with the Herndon Towne Square Singers and retired from the United States Geological Survey in Reston, VA.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clarence W. Anderson, Jr of Herndon, VA; son John M. Anderson (Krista) of St. Paul, MN; son David J. Anderson (Anamika) of Oakton, VA; son Stephen C. Anderson (Le-Ha) of Glen Allen, VA; daughter Julie M. Anderson of Ashburn, VA; granddaughters Amelia, Natalie, and Miriam and grandson ILAN.  In addition, she is survived by her sister, Patricia Hill (James); 19 nieces and nephews.  Mary was predeceased by her father, mother, and brother John A. Moran.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at ADAMS-GREEN Funeral Home, Herndon, VA.  A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 750 Peachtree Street, Herndon, VA.  Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13075 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD.
