“Mom” Yes, you were my other Mom and I feel so fortunate. Life is amazing in that when you are at your emptiest point, if you allow the sun to shine in your life, the emptiness can be filled with love, laughter and acceptance. You and Susan filled my heart with love again. You brought so much love and joy to my life. We shared many laughs, recipes and philosophical conversations. You shared your family and friends and treated me as your daughter. We shared several road trips and generated many memories. The most significant day was when you presented Susan’s wedding ring to me and gave us your love and blessings. When illness presented, i was glad I could be there to assist. When given the terminal diagnosis, I am so happy that we took advantage of the situation to think of a way to leave your legacy. The creation of the Ellis Traditions of Cooking was such an honor to put together.... sharing family stories and family “secrets” to special recipes. The last four months were hard for you.... but I am glad Susan and I could be there for every step of the way. During those four months, there were still smiles, stories laughs and cards. You were well loved by everyone you met. As I try to identify my feelings, I realize I don’t have painful sorrow. I know you had a great life and lived everyday of it. Only the last day was really hard. I had a chance to say goodbye and thank you for being a part of my life and loving me. Now I know you are not suffering. I find that instead of pain, I feel an emptiness..... a loneliness. We shared our daily life with you and we both miss telling you all of the little things and sharing the plans we are making. Right now that creates a vast empty space in my heart. The love, stories and memories will fill in and you will always be a part of me. So now shine bright as a diamond in the sky and sing like an angelic song bird.

I always knew Anne was a remarkable lady but, I've learned even more wonderful things she did in her life. She certainly DID have a Zest for life throughout her entire life. I will miss her laugh and sweet, sweet smile. She definitely left a wonderful legacy!
