Obituary of Purple Exodus Sarah McCabe

On Thursday, April 11, 2019, in Sterling, Virginia, our beautiful granddaughter, Purple McCabe, left us for a gentler, freer place in the universe. She was born in Calais, Maine, on August 4, 1998, to her mother, Tabitha Fleming McCabe, and her father, Timothy Youngs McCabe.

Whether in the chorus of “Anything Goes!” or as Ophelia in “Hamlet”, both community plays, or playing the lead in the Whiting Village School's production of “The Fisherman's Wife”, Purple's dramatic skills were well known in Down East Maine. Memorizing lines was an easy job for her. Purple had a knack, too, for inserting herself into the character she was playing thus making it all the more believable.

She loved butterflies and the color pink. Purple loved art – drawing and painting. Animals were important to her. Very precious to Purple were her four brothers and two younger sisters. She loved people and people loved her.

While Waiting for Thee
(Author unknown)

Don't weep at my grave,
For I am not there.
I've a date with a butterfly
To dance in the air.
I'll be singing in the sunshine,
Wild and free,
Playing tag with the wind
While I'm waiting for thee.

She will be missed by so many it would be difficult to name them all. Purple will be sadly missed by her parents and step mother, Erica. She leaves behind a large family: grandparents Michael & Patricia McCabe and Bill & Gina Oxley; brothers Cephedos, Wyrick and Melach McCabe and Phillip Davis; and sisters Katelyn and Lora Davis. Purple also leaves behind Aunt Sarah Angatia and her husband, Uncle Daudi Angatia, as well as Uncle Michael McCabe, his wife, Aunt Anjali Kochar, and two very special cousins, Kiran and Meera Kochar-McCabe. Great Grandmother, Delana Sparks, also will miss Purple, as will many more relatives and tons of friends – including three very special friends, Wanda Corey, Autumn Francis, and Kobe Hollick.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life is planned for the afternoon of Saturday, May 4, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., at the Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA 20170. Phone: 703-437-1764. Web Site: adamsgreen.com. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to one of Purple's favorite charities: NAMI Maine, 1 Bangor St., Augusta, ME 04330. Web site: www.namimaine.org.

There also will be a gathering in Down East Maine later this summer to celebrate Purple's life. Purple's ashes will be scattered at various spots where she enjoyed spending time with her friends. Maine was the place she loved the most.
