Obituary of Louise M. deMilt

Louise M. deMilt passed away Sunday, May 12th, 2019. She was married to Brendan E. deMilt on June 24, 1950 and enjoyed 45 loving years together until his passing on January 23, 1995.  She has two children, Brendan and his wife Susan of Manahawkin NJ, and Gregory and his wife Sherry of Waterford VA. Louise has two Grandsons, two Granddaughters, three Great Granddaughters, and one Great Grandson.

Louise was born in Newark New Jersey, the youngest child of Rocco and Lugia Macchiaverna. She was predeceased by brothers Tony, Frank, Mario, John, sisters Betty, and Antoinette. She has one surviving sister, Marie Anzelone 102, of Florham Park NJ.

Louise enjoyed a long career as an elementary school teacher. She began teaching in the late 1940s in the Union Public School District of New Jersey. Over the years she taught in Syracuse NY, Florham Park NJ, and finishing her career at Francis J O’Neal Elementary in Islip NY.

After retiring she and her Husband move to Herndon VA where she remained until the summer of 2014 when she moved to Meadow Glen Assisted Living Facility in Leesburg VA. This was due to the progressing effects of her Parkinson’s disease making it impossible to continue living alone. An extremely difficult decision to take for a woman as fiercely independent as Louise. Parkinson’s disease slowly took its toll on her, but Louise being Louise, she never complained about it.

As much as Louise loved flowers and would truly appreciate the thought, she asked that in lieu of sending flowers donations be made to Parkinson’s Research.
