Obituary of Francine Kugler Gilbert

Francine K. Gilbert, 70, of Herndon, VA, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019.  She was married to William E. Gilbert, and enjoyed 30 years of marriage before his passing in 2014. She leaves two adult children, Cassandra Badger (Chris) of Washington D.C., and James Gilbert of Herndon, VA. Francine is also survived by two brothers, Martin Kugler (Margie) and Alan Kugler (Linda) both of New York, and was predeceased by another brother, Donald Kugler (Renee).

She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and spent the last 39 years in the Herndon area. Fran enjoyed various fulfilling careers over the years including working for Delta Airlines and Fairfax County Schools and Libraries. She was very active in the Girls Scouts and the various sports organizations with which her children participated. She enjoyed the theater, was an avid reader and especially cherished time spent with family and friends.

Francine battled Parkinson’s disease for almost 20 years and maintained her fiercely independent and strong-willed personality throughout. She will be extremely missed and remembered her for her generosity, kindness and infectious laugh and smile.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Adams-Green Funeral Home. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, May 31, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 750 Peachtree Street, Herndon, VA., followed by a reception at a family members’ home (details will be provided at the funeral service).
