Obituary of Marie Isabel Barnes

Marie Isabel Barnes, 86, of Ashburn VA, passed on June 7, 2019.
Born on February 18, 1933 in Carlisle PA, Marie was the daughter of the late Paul E. Woods and Viola Showers Woods. Marie grew up in Newport PA.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her older brother Ralph Woods, and sister Vera Haines.

Marie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lenus D. Barnes; Daughter and son-in-law Drs. Susan Marie Barnes and Colson Mark Taylor; niece Renita L. Dressler and family Roger Dressler, David Dressler, Darryl Dressler, his wife Amberlee and children Brice and Caura Rose Dressler. 
Daughter of a truck driver with surviving older brother Wayne and younger brother Terry Woods, Marie was active in the church and in high school playing the violin and marching in the band as a majorette.  Marie retired several years after her husband Lenus’s dual career with the US Navy and Montgomery Co MD EPA.  Marie became head of bookkeeping for State National Bank in Rockville MD, then worked with a Mortgage Co.  Marie was active in communities where she lived, always giving and sharing with others.  She enjoyed bowling, riding her bike, playing cards, and keeping in touch with family, friends and neighbors near and far.    
A memorial celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Reward United Methodist Church, 611 Perry Valley Road, Millerstown, PA with Pastor Wayne Kerstetter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or Wounded Warrior Project.
