Obituary of Janette Ann Valliere

JANETTE ANN VALLIERE

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister, Janette Ann Valliere passed away peacefully on June 6, 2019 at Fairfax Hospital due to Cerebral Edema.  She was surrounded by close family members and received a grand send-off from hospital staff.  She is survived by her husband, James , her children, Christina Jackson and Ronald Long, mother Margo Gray of Harper's Ferry, WV, sisters Cindy (Joe) Mackey of Harper's Ferry, WV and Karen (Allen) Barnes of Lebanon, TN, and brother, Jeffrey (Jill) Gray of Colonial Beach, VA  as well as 3 grandchildren.  She is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces as well as a several cats.  Jan was preceded in death by her father Ronald Gray, 2 grandfathers and 2 grandmothers.

Jan was born on Oct 13, 1959 in Dixon, Illinois to Margo and Ron Gray.  She grew up on the family farm in Polo, IL where her life education began.  She moved with her family to Herndon VA in 1986 where she attended Northern Va Community College and Hood College in Frederick MD following a career in Dietary Management.  She worked as a Dietary Manager for various specialty care centers consisting mostly of elderly patients.  She gained skills and knowledge from working on the family farm, accompanying her Dad on construction projects as well as working with the elderly.  Those skills were shared generously with others throughout her lifetime earning her titles such as the “Family McGyver”.   In addition to raising 2 children Jan became quite proficient at many hobbies during her lifetime including cake baking, painting, knitting, needlepoint, and sewing.   She had a thirst for knowledge, unafraid and eager to learn new things, explore new places and meet new people.  Jan also loved animals and shared her home over the years with various creatures including several beloved cats and a pair of ferrets.  Jan was not without her struggles, but she bore them with courage and grace.   Her struggles never interfered with her generous and giving spirit.  She was always at the ready when anyone needed help, sacrificing her own needs to serve others.  She had a special devotion to her grandchildren, teaching them, loving them.  She touched so many lives, young and old, and will leave an indelible print on many hearts.  May God bless her, keep her and may her life serve as an inspiration to us all. 

Please join us in remembrance of her life at Adams-Green funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm.  On Wednesday you are also invited to attend the funeral Mass at 10:30am at St. Veronica’s Catholic Church in Chantilly, VA followed by a burial ceremony at noon at Fairfax Memorial Park.
