Obituary of Garnett Franklin Taylor Jr.
Garnett Franklin Taylor, Jr., age 79 of Herndon, Va. passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019. He was born on June 3,1940 in Norfolk, Va. He was the son of Rosa Blair and Garnett Taylor. He was predeceased by his parents and son, Paul “Pete” Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife, Carmela Taylor, sons, Garnett “Gary” Taylor, Rob Taylor, his daughter-in-law Tina, granddaughter Morgan, and his brothers Tom Taylor and Paul Schwab.
Garnett graduated from Old Dominion University with a major in Political Science. He also earned a Master’s degree from the University of Virginia. During his career years he worked for the state of Virginia and later for the federal government at the Justice Department in Washington D.C. He also served as a major in the Army Reserves.
Garnett was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Veronica Catholic Church and NARFE,
The National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He had an avid interest in politics and loved to share his opinions with others. He enjoyed listening to Classical music, attending concerts, and theatre performances with his wife, Carmela. As a father he encouraged his sons to play a musical instrument and coached soccer and basketball teams. He loved his special times with his family.
A visitation will be held at Adams-Green Funeral Home on Monday, June 24th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. followed by funeral services at St. Veronica Catholic Church 3460 Centreville Rd. Chantilly, Va. Interment will follow services at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon.
