I wish Mr. McKinney’s family peace and solace in the memory of what a wonderful man he was. I grew up next door to Mr. and Mrs McKinney in the McLean Hamlet. He was a kind, gentle soul. He would show me his garden and bird baths. My appreciation and respect for him and his innate gentleness continued until I went to college and for years afterward. My Mom sent me their Potomac Falls address and we’ve exchanged Christmas cards every year since. He was always such a proud grandfather! I will always remember Mr and Mrs McKinney so fondly as a lovely and remarkable couple. Rest In Peace Mr. McKinney.
The McKinneys always welcomed us, the crazy kids of the neighborhood in McLean Hamlet, into their home, as a second home for us. I remember a big pumpkin patch in their back yard, even with a square pumpkin once!
