Obituary of Sadie Hardee Harrelson

On August 10, 2019, Sadie Hardee Harrelson, loving wife, mother, sister and aunt passed away at age 79.

Sadie was born on August 23, 1939 in Daisy, SC.  After briefly living in Panama with her husband, who was serving in the military, she worked in the radio industry. She was responsible for creating the daily, 24-hour commercial logs, a very challenging proposition before computers.  After her family moved to Northern Virginia from Charleston, SC, Sadie enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom before becoming a teacher at the Mother’s Day Out (MDO) program at Sterling Park Baptist Church. She taught there for many years before eventually becoming the Assistant Director. She retired in 2013.

Sadie was an avid reader who took great pride in her book collection. She also enjoyed flower arranging, sewing, crafting and decorating.  She served on the Decorating Committee at Sterling Park Baptist Church for several years and excelled at creating curtains and Christmas decor.

Sadie is survived by her husband John Harrelson, her daughters Gina Robinson (m. Patrick Robinson) and Heather Brown (m. Jeff Brown), and her granddaughter Elizabeth Brown. 

A funeral service will be held on August 15, 2019 at the Adams-Green Funeral Home (721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA).  Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. with a service at 10:00 a.m.
