Obituary of Joann Lillian Frise

Joann Lillian (Moser) Frise passed away peacefully on the morning of August 15th, 2019 at the age of 87, in Gainesville, Virginia.

Joann was born on March 23, 1932, in Greeley, CO and raised on a farm in nearby LaSalle.  Upon high school graduation she enrolled in CSCE where she completed 3 years of education before obtaining her certification to become an x-ray technician.  She married her hometown sweetheart, James R. Frise.  Joann was a devoted wife and mother, raising two children while supporting her husband during his Air Force career that took the family to New York, New Mexico, Colorado, The Philippines, Georgia, England and finally, where they retired in Fairfax, Virginia.  Joann enjoyed her work as an x-ray technician over the years, including at Inova Hospital, from where she retired.  Joann especially loved to spend time with her family and friends, whom she adored.  Faith was an important part of her life.  She was an active member of Ox Hill Baptist Church in Chantilly, VA, since 1975, where she developed many long-time friendships.  She was an excellent cook and always took great care to plan special occasions, attending to every detail.  She also participated in the Northern Virginia Arts and Antique Club, Air Force Officers’ Wives’ Club and enjoyed gardening.

Joann is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, James of Gainesville, VA, her two children:  Barry (Lori) Frise of Ashburn, VA, Lauri (Scott) Haycock of Snoqualmie, WA, four grandchildren:  Jonathan, Christopher, Morgan (Josh) and Ashley (Cory) and three great grandchildren: Beau, Briggs and Amberly as well as her sister Lorraine and many beloved nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Rose Moser, her sisters Pearl, Rose Marie and her brother, Max.

Joann loved helping people and was always kind to everyone.  She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.  Visitation will be held starting at 10AM, August 24, 2019, followed by a service at 11AM at Ox Hill Baptist Church, Chantilly, VA.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Western Fairfax Christian Ministries (https://wfcmva.org).

Psalm 118:24: This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
