Obituary of Patty Joe Sturgill

On August 22, 2019, Patty Sturgill went to be with the Lord.

Patty was born in 1933 to John and Emma McDowell. After graduating from high school in Sophia, West Virginia, Patty married her high school sweetheart, Lowell Sturgill, and moved to the Washington D.C. area. Patty worked at the National Security Agency until she had her two children, Lowell Jr. and Linda, after which she became a full-time homemaker. She regularly volunteered at church and at various local schools; was an active member of the communities where she and Lowell lived; and most recently was a faithful member of Potomac Baptist Church in Potomac Falls, Virginia. Patty and Lowell enjoyed 62 years of marriage and blessed all who came to know them. After Lowell passed, Patty moved to the Ashby Ponds retirement community in Ashburn, Virginia, where she enjoyed making new friends.

She is survived by Lowell Jr. and Linda; their spouses, Caren and Ron; and grandchildren Bradley, Brian, John, and Kristi, who she loved dearly and moved back to the area from Nashville, Tennessee to watch grow up.  Her family and friends miss her greatly.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the Potomac Baptist Church or the Ashby Ponds Benevolent Care Fund.
