Obituary of Doris Onaga

After a brave undaunted battle with Cholangio Carcinoma, Doris Midori Onaga died on September 12, 2019, in Aldie Virginia.  She leaves behind her loving husband Keith Berry.

Doris was born in Lima Peru on February 21, 1957, to father Roberto Onaga and Mother Enriqueta Onaga.

Doris left Peru to start her own home and office cleaning business in Northern Virginia until she decided to return to Lima to help her sister Carmen be a caregiver to her mother after a major stroke befell her.

Doris became a trained dental assistant while living in Peru and later returned to Virginia and applied her new training as a dental assistant in Washington DC.

Doris met her husband, Keith Berry while working evenings at Da Domenico restaurant in Tysons Corner Virginia.  They have been together since 1998 and were married in 2005.

Doris took a job at a Dental office working for Dr. David Rogowski, Dr. Joseph Maloney, Drs. Pham, Biga, and Kim. Doris was involved in charitable causes offering up her time to volunteer at free dental clinics.

Doris was employed from 1998 until May 2019. Known for making everyone’s day a brighter more cheerful workday, with home-cooked food, blowing up surgical gloves to entertain kids, taking pride in her job, attention to detail and cleanliness, anticipating both the doctors and patients needs before they had to ask. Doris always made a co-worker's birthday a special event.  Doris would buy things for the office on her own time.

Doris was truly a most valued employee and a great person to have around in the office.  Patients and friends have sent her cards and donated to her cause.

Doris is part of a very large family and is survived by sisters Carmen Onaga, Teresa Yamawaki, Jaime Onaga, Ricardo Onaga, Mario Onaga, and Jose Pepe Onaga. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Luis “Lucho” Onaga, Guillermo Onaga. Doris's husband would like to thank Carmen Onaga for helping with her caregiving in Doris's most critical time of need. The entire Onaga family was there for Doris and her spirits were always positive. She had many nieces and nephews who she cherished and helped nurture as if they were her own children. Her love for them can not be measured.

Visitation and a Memorial Service will be held at the Adams Green Funeral Home Sunday 09/22/19 in Herndon Virginia from 1.00 pm -2.00 pm. A memorial service will begin at 2.00 pm.  A small reception will be held at 4 pm. for close friends and family at 1012 Grant Street Herndon Virginia 20170

Doris will be cremated and her ashes will be buried the following day at the Cool Spring Natural Cemetery at Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville Virginia at 10.30 am.

Flowers or donations to the Cholangio Carcinoma Foundation will be accepted.

Doris’s Husband would like to personally thank all the doctors and nurses at INOVA Fairfax Hospital, and the nurses at the Capital Caring Adler Center in Aldie Virginia, for Doris’s Hospice care and family support.
