Obituary of Helen Virginia Gochenour

Helen Virginia Gochenour, 93, of Fairfax, VA, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 1:17 am. 

Born on December 28, 1925 in the county of Frederick, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Samuel Boyer and the late Mary Catherine Malone Boyer.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Alvin Gochenour, and her son, Mark Wayne Gochenour.

She graduated from The Capital City School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. in 1947 and worked as a Registered Nurse at Gallinger Municipal Hospital (later known as District of Columbia General Hospital).  She left nursing to raise a family, but returned to work later in life and retired from Loudoun Memorial Hospital.  She loved animals with a passion.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann Gochenour.   

Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
