Louan and I were friends of over 20 years and colleagues at Oxon Hill High School. I took the news of her illness hard but, she in her normal calm, quiet and comforting way put me at ease with the diagnosis. Our days in the school were easy ones as we both shared the same work ethic, were loyal and dedicated. We continued to keep in contact and shared a meal for our June birthdays and several other times throughout the year. Catching up with each other of our families, our health and lives was something I looked forward as Louan had that way of making bad news better and would bring smiles to my face with her soft humor about life in general. I miss her dearly already, as I know her beloved children and family. My heart and prayer for healing goes to all of you. Hold each other close, remembering her gentleness. Alicia Dorr
My memories of Louan are that she was a very calm and helpful school office "secretary". I worked with her at one of the schools in P.G. Co where I was teaching. She always had a kind word for a student or teacher spoken with a smile and suggestion of help if needed. My condolences and prayers are with those of you that knew her more intimately.
Louan was a guide and often an angel to inspire me as we both raised 3 daughters of the same ages in Oxon Hill at St. Columba parish in the 1970s. We were two of the mot stalwart parents raising six of the most brilliant, talented, intelligent girls in the grade school.
I missed her greatly when we moved west in 1979. She was calm and in control of all situations and I trust that she will straighten out whatever needs polishing up in heaven by the time I get there so we can have more fun together.
