Obituary of Mary Ellen Curran

Mary Ellen Curran affectionately known as “Lolly”, 58, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019. Born in Merrick, NY on June 25, 1961, the daughter of Paul and Suzi Damico and the first of six siblings.

On September 2, 1984 she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Curran. In 1988, they welcomed their daughter, Kaitlyn, followed by their son, Zachary, in 1993. She felt immense pride in the accomplishments of her family and loved ones.

Mary Ellen graduated from Comsewogue High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Farmingdale State University in 1983. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Charles Hospital for 15 years. After the family moved from Long Island to Virginia, Mary Ellen continued her nursing career in women’s health. 

Mary Ellen loved long walks with family and neighbors, relaxing by the pool, spending time with her friends, and her granddaughter Eleanor.  She devoted her life to others, caring for her husband throughout his battle with Alzheimer’s.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Curran. She is survived by her children, Kaitlyn Sweger and Zachary Curran, their partners Aaron Sweger and Mallory Guffey, her siblings, Patricia Farmer, Paul Damico, Susan Raible, Jaqueline Messera, and Joseph Damico, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, all who loved her tremendously. 

Mary Ellen’s memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St, Herndon, Virginia from 5-7 pm.
