Obituary of Betty Mineros

Betty Mineros, 65, of Sterling, VA passed away peacefully in her home in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Betty was born on July 14, 1954 in La Union, El Salvador to Chon Flores and Sara Flores, who she is now reunited with in heaven.

Betty grew up in Salvador and migrated to the U.S in 1981 with Mario R. Mineros. After their separation in 1992, Betty raised her two children as a fiercely independent single mother. Her nurturing heart lead her to a fulfilling career in healthcare, as a medical assistant, a phlebotomists, and then a nurse. Unfortunately, Betty’s health began to decline due to complications from diabetes and liver failure.  She bravely battled through a liver transplant, and multiple related surgeries and hospitalization, with the tireless support of her two children. She fought hard, but more complications occurred due to the immunosuppressive medications that led to End Stage Renal Disease and starting dialysis. After her health continued to decline Betty made the difficult decision to enter hospice care. Her final two weeks of life were spent in high spirits surrounded by family and friends who love her deeply. A very heartfelt thank you to Nathalie, her caretaker, who cared for her during the last 10 months during the hours her family worked.

Betty is survived by her two children, Sara and Mario, three grandchildren, Isabella, Joncarlos and Santiago, her father, and five siblings. Her family also includes several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She is best known to her family as “Mamita and Mami Tia”, which translates to ‘mom-aunt.  For many, that’s exactly what she was. She was the mother who was loving and understanding of all, but stern when she needed to be. She was the aunt who was always ready to listen to your secrets, or your favorite song on repeat for hours. Her greatest joy was crafting and hosting family events in her home, just to see her family together.

It was truly a gift to be in the bright presence of Betty Mineros. Her charming smile and fun loving nature made everyone who met her fall in love. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy of love, family and fun will live on in the hearts of all she touched.

Visitation will be held at Adams-Green Funeral Home at 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA this Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Guests are welcome to come and go as they please, and are invited to share in the celebration of the life of Betty.

The church service will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, at 46833 Harry Byrd Highway, Sterling, VA this Wednesday, November 13, 2019 starting promptly at 4:30 PM.
