The year I spent at Good Shepherd Academy in 2004 was my favorite year of school because of Mr and Mrs Ashman. While it's been nearly two decades, I look fondly upon those times and cherish the memories spent there. My heart was broken to hear of the passing of Mr Ashman, but I know his kindness has guided his spirit to rest peacefully with God. Such a good and kind man who taught me so much. My thoughts and prayers are with the Ashman family.

Lee Earle Joseph Ashman was truly the most incredible soul I have ever had in my life. Pa and Grandma have impacted not only my life significantly, but the lives of so many others in many deferent ways.
Pa stepped in as a father figure in my life when I was very young when I desperately needed it.
No questions, just immediately there, always.
My mom and I lived with my grandparents for most of my childhood. I am so blessed to have so many countless memories with them.
I could write all day about them, but I’ll select a few to share.
Every morning my grandparents would get ready in our downstairs bathroom fixing there hair with there combs and there suave hairspray that I can still smell. Pa singing or whistling of course.
I spent the majority of holidays with them as well.
I remember our diet usually always consisted of Raisin Bran in the morning, chicken, salad, and veggies in the evening. Or grandma would occasionally make chicken stew or tuna casserole. I never got sick of it.
Leaving the house and Pa always making sure to lean a chair against the back door behind the drapes and turn his classical music up loud enough to hear outside from his black boom box to deter any intruders.
Playing board games, one in particular will always be special to me. Pa was a very manly, strong man. I had a board game called Pretty Pretty Princes. Throughout the game as you moved through the game you would collect different jewelry including a tiara, whoever got all of there jewelry including the tiara would win. He had no shame and clipped on those earrings, wore the bracelets, necklaces, and he would complete it all with the tiara.
I didn’t realize how special that was until I got older.
But Pa did so many things for me and sacrificed so much for me.
Even when I got older when I was no longer living with them, I was always there. But if I needed them, they would be there no matter what. Suit tie and all.
All the backyard shows I put on for gymnastics and singing that he never missed, always cheering me on.
We went on countless trips together, they always made them special in many ways.
One trip in particular we went to Connecticut to visit his sister Margie, I remember the smile on his face and the goofiness that came out. The joy he had when showing me the property that they used to own Thousand Oaks, that he used to take his kids up to and they would do landscaping. Riding in his light blue truck.
I will forever cherish all the memories we shared, the stories he told.
He had so many stories, a lot of them told from the head of our dining room table. I was always so intrigued by them.
He had such a long, beautiful, and fulfilling life.
He did more then a lot of people.
He was hard working, always running, getting the most out of every single day.
I will forever miss his voice, his singing, his stories, his hugs (I would give so much to have one of those right now), big blue eyes, smile, everything.
He lived a life full of faith, his relationship with God was an incredible example for everyone around him.
Sitting next to my Grandmother at the viewing for Pa, hearing all the wonderful, kind words people had to say about him. The mothers of children he once taught. How much impact he had on his students. Even one mother saying “he shaped my boy”.
Had me truly in tears, not only because I miss him deeply and wish he was still here with us. But joy, and peace knowing he accomplished so much throughout his life.
Pa and Grandma created this incredible family, so many of us it’s amazing. We all started with these two beautiful souls falling in love.
Pa, I miss you deeply. I love you so much. I cherish every moment I had with you. Especially the last visit I had with you in June, where I sang to you, and you opened your eyes wide and I held your hand and talked to you.
I know you are in a beautiful place, and I truly hope one day I will see you again.
Rest in paradise Pa
We have a very special angel watching over us.

Lee was a great man who accomplished much during his life. For six years, he was my right-hand man when I was headmaster at Annunciation Academy. I will remember him most significantly for his ability to challenge my ideas with love, never making me feel silly or lording over me the fact that, by age and experience, he was greatly my superior. He and his lovely wife, Rita, were good friends, faithful companions, and I owe them both profound gratitude for contributing to the work and mission of Annunciation Academy. His gift of self, his sharing of his children and grandchildren with the Academy, and his unwavering support of the mission of the Church will be remembered by me for many years. Thank you, Lee. May God grant you eternal rest in his bosom.
