John always helped me out when I was starting at SAIC so many years ago, and I always remember John when I am trying to decon equipment in subzero temperatures with frozen fingers. God bless you my friend.

JP was one of kind, the best kind. Always happy, always a smile, always the special JP laugh.
As we all grew older and our families matured we had bit more time to rekindle the fires of friendship forged in high school and college. A group of "the boys" started seeing each other for various outings more frequently over the last few years. We of course had no idea how precious that time with John was, we treasure them now.
JP loved adventures and family life permitting was also up for the activity. A poker game was scheduled to take place at the home of a friend in St. Michael's Maryland. John's response to the invitation summed up all the great times we had with him:
"Sounds good. Gorog, shotgun, road trip. I'm in. Thanks, JP"
God Bless John Pendleton, you my friend will be greatly missed.

While mourning this devastating loss I value the blessing of having known John for almost 50 years and the positive affect that relationship has had on my life.
Doing the right thing sometimes takes courage...courage sometimes brings praise...JP had the courage to do the right thing along with the humility to deflect the praise.

I was saddened to learn of John's sudden passing. He was a solid, genuine person whose warm smile and always positive outlook impacted others and lifted their spirits. I am but one of many who was fortunate to have known JP.
My condolences and prayers to the Pendleton family.

John and I were friends in Grade School. I was jealous of his athletic talents. When we saw each other 10 years ago at the 30 year class reunion he was so jovial and kind. He was always smiling. My words are lacking but I love this quote:
"I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. . . I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost. . . . A Lincoln
May your family find solace in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and may your faith sustain you in this difficult time. I know John lives on! I know you can be together again as a family. I trust that He will bring sweet memories to your mind and solace to your hearts. All the Best. Chad McKay

My deepest sympathies are extended to the Pendleton family. John and I were co-workers. He was in the office next to mine. I'll never forget that no matter how my day was going, if he started laughing, I would too. He just lifted spirits. God bless him and your family. Wishing you comfort in knowing that so many care.

I extend my condolences and prayers to John’s family. John and I were classmates and friends in high school. John was always pleasant and a true gentleman with a winning and contagious smile. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

We are all the better for the footprints John left in our hearts.
Praying peace, comfort and strength to all who loved and appreciated John.

My childhood years were filled with many years spent in the Pendleton home as a close friend of John's sister Sue. I can still hear John's wonderful laugh and see his gentle grin. He was kind, funny and always so enjoyable to be with. My love and sincere regrets to his family. A true loss to all who were lucky enough to have known him.

My teenage summers were spent with Susie and John. Many hours at Riverbend and I think I lived in their house more than my own during those months. He was a brother to me. And though decades have passed since those summers, the memories never fad. He had an incredible heart and infectious smile. No matter how much Susie and I would try to get to him, he would just smile and always have our backs. Always on the lookout for his sister and I! Thank you John for some great memories.

JP was one of the kindest, humblest people that I have ever been blessed to know. I hung out with John a decent amount during our high school years, and I can honestly state that I never, ever heard him say an unkind thing about another person. That is a rare thing indeed. He was probably the most natural athlete that I knew. I still recall in ninth grade PE class that whenever Coach King needed someone to demonstrate, he called on JP. “Pendleton, climb that rope to the ceiling.” “Pendleton, demonstrate how to do a dismount on the parallel bars.” “Pendleton, show us how to do a cartwheel with a roundoff”. It just seemed that there was really nothing athletic that John could not do. Laura, Jack, Emily, and Scott, all of his old high school friends share your grief and we are so sad for your loss. May you be comforted in knowing what a good man he was in this life.

I am so sorry for you family's loss. Great man, great person, and great friend. His band of brothers from high school and college days loved him greatly.
