Obituary of Joseph Peter Garmon

Joseph Peter Garmon, entered into heaven on November 17, 2019.  He passed from this place in his parents' loving embrace.  Joseph was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas McGinnis; his uncle, Marco Cera; and his cousin, Ava Jean Neal Garmon.  He is survived by his parents, Nicole and David; his sister, Charlotte; his brother, Thomas; his paternal grandparents, James and Maria; and his maternal grandmother, Hennie.

Joseph came to us as a surprise and brought with him heaven-sent joy.  He conspired with Saints to bring our family closer to each other, closer to our church and closer to God.  In his time, he demanded that we reexamine our understanding of misfortune and suffering.  When we came up short in our earthly search for answers he pointed up, and in so doing showed the wisdom of Abraham.  With his direction, we submitted to the example of our Father in Faith and accepted God's will.  Our only requests, that we be allowed to prepare his brother and sister for what was to come and to welcome him into our church, were granted mercifully by our Lord.  His holy sacraments were made possible by a selfless man of God whose humble response to our tearful expressions of gratitude was simply, "This is why I became a Priest."

We would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and technicians who cared for Joseph with gentle tenderness, and our friends for their compassion, love and prayers.  Our church and our family, in their prayers and love, continue to hold us up as bedrock even though we lean heavily.  We are grateful and we are blessed.

In lieu of flowers, we humbly request that you consider making a donation to Children's National Hospital at www.giving.childrensnational.org
