Obituary of Margret Mues

Margret Mues 87, nee Fletemeyer, died peacefully at home in Lansdowne, VA.  Margret and Werner, her husband of 65 years, moved to a retirement community in Loudoun County in 2009 to be closer to their children. 

Born in Lienen, Westphalia Germany, Margret grew up across the street from Werner in their small town.  They were married in 1954, at which time Margret moved to Quebec, Canada to join Werner who had gone 2 years earlier.  Their children were born and raised there, and then in 1973, the family moved to Baltimore, MD.  Margret started working outside the home at this time in furniture sales where she was able to put her training and talents in interior design to good use.  But her true loves were classical music and gardening.   There was always music in the house, and the gardens everywhere she lived flourished and brought happiness to her and everyone who saw them. 

Margret was preceded in death by her two younger brothers, Fritz Fletemeyer of Lienen, Germany and Klaus Fletemeyer of Montreal, Canada.  She is survived by her loving husband Werner; children Heiko Mues and wife Gretchen Berg, and Ingrid Mues; and 4 grandchildren, Matthew Mues and partner Caitlin Murphy; Ian Olson and wife Cassie McDonnell-Olson; Toby Mues and partner Cristina Rayas; Dana Mues Whitaker and husband Sean Whitaker. 

All funeral services will be privately held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loudoun County SPCA. https://www.loudoun.gov/animals.
