I worked with Chuck for many years at SAMHSA. He was a great guy and fun to work with. We unfortunately lost contact when I retired three years ago. I will always regret that we didn’t stay in touch.
He loved his family and always enjoyed talking about them. I hope the wonderful memories you
have will help you through this difficult time.

So long, Chuck. How many programs and conferences did we work together on? You didn't seek to be the leader of the parade, but you were always there to play any trumpet or drum or even a picollo that was needed. You taught us - not by lecturing - but by doing. Your record is carved more deeply on our memories than on any marble stone.
We will miss you. In fact, we already do.

My sincere condolences to Chuck's family. I had the privilege to work with Chuck for many years in HHS. Chuck always encouraged me, supported me and helped me be successful. I was so happy to later be his colleague outside of HHS, in the private sector. Chuck always had a great family story to share, which revealed his deep love for them. I know he had a very positive impact on a great many people, who will remember him always.

Chuck was a good friend and a great guy. He encouraged me to expand our genealogy business from a shoestring operation five years ago to what it is today, and for that, I'm especially grateful to him. Seeing him at every Virginia Genealogical Society and Fairfax Genealogical Society conference was assurance that all would be well (and it always was). We will really miss him. Our most sincere condolences to his family.

It is with my sincerest sympathy that I send my condolences to Chuck's family and friends on his passing. While I knew Chuck for the relatively short time that we worked together as trainers of Election Officers in the Fairfax County Office of Elections, I found him to be very knowledgeable, professional, and eager to make sure we presented the best instruction possible. He was fun to be with and made the training sessions that we worked together very enjoyable and easy to present. He will be truly missed by all of us trainers as we move forward into another election officer training cycle.

Candace, Alan, and Erin,
Although we have never met, I have known and worked with Chuck through the Fairfax Genealogical Society, the National Genealogical Society, and the Virginia Genealogical Society. He was a very hard working and dedicated volunteer for all three organizations. Hundreds of genealogists have benefited from his hard work and dedication.
I will miss his friendship, sense of humor, and working with him on genealogical projects.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during the difficult days ahead.

I am so sorry to hear about Chuck's death. I worked with him at the Fairfax County Office of Elections, processing absentee ballots and training election officers. Chuck was an absolute delight to work with. He was generous with his time, knowledge, and guidance. He was also a very funny man. The participants in the election officer classes responded very favorably to Chuck's presentations and warm manner. Chuck always radiated kindness and goodness. I miss working with him.

What a great man and I will always have wonderful memories of him. I also have the beautiful Hosta plants that he gave me from his back yard that he grew and spilt them and gave me some for my new home. I am blessed to look out my window every day and see them. Thank you Chuck Novak for your kindness.
Love,
Catherine and Kenneth Abell

Chuck & I worked together with LINK at Trinity Presbyterian Church for about 10 years. We organized Thanksgiving & Christmas baskets, helped get the furniture garage built & so many other projects. Chuck always kept busy, going a mile a minute! I enjoyed working with him and am thankful to have had him as a friend. Chuck was a mentor to my son when he was a teen at Trinity. He will be sorely missed. Blessings & prayers to Candy & family.

As a member of TRINITY Presbyterian Church in Herndon, I knew Chuck very well and served on a Pastor Nominating Committee which he chaired. During that experience I came to learn how dependable, wise, and organized Chuck was. It was a joy to serve with him. My “claimed” church pew was in front of Chuck’s. We checked in with each other each week and I loved looking out and seeing Chuck in his usual seat, where he was supposed to be! It breaks my heart to know I won’t see him there or share humor with him. I’m so thankful to have known Chuck and will miss him very much.
