Ellen nurtured the editorial team at NGI, helping every journalist she mentored to grow stronger and be better. A tree growing in her memory is fitting.

Alex, Dexter: What an immeasurable loss, not just for your own family, but for the NGI family as well. I remember when Ellen first offered me an opportunity at the company, and I looked up her bio. I was impressed. I always respected and admired her for all that she accomplished. Over the years, she gave me advice too and pointed me in the right direction by suggesting stories I might not have otherwise followed. She had a knack for finding news. For that, and more, I owe her much. She won’t be forgotten. Stay strong, and my sincere condolences to the rest of her family.

dear John, Alex and Dex, and to all of her family...
I grieve with you. I miss her. Ellen was my boss but more than that, she was a mentor and a friend. I looked up to her, listened to her and learned from her. Ellen was one of the fiercest editors I've ever had. She appreciated good work and doled out fair criticism. Her good advice was never ending. She made me a better writer. She made me a more patient person. She made me a better editor. Ellen never failed to make sure I was doing OK, whether at work or in my private life. She was always my champion, and for that I can never repay her. I was fortunate to have shared Ellen with you. I am fortunate my family got to know her in person and through me. She was dearly loved. c
