Obituary of Mary Ann Botta

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary Ann Botta, known to those that loved her as “Mimi”, passed away the afternoon of Sunday, December 29, 2019 after a years-long battle with triple-negative metastatic breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Botta, and is survived by her daughter Jennifer K. Badolato and son-in-law Blake Badolato of Potomac Falls, Va., her daughter Jessica A. Botta of Washington, DC; her beloved grandchildren Gina E. Badolato, Julia M. Badolato, and Leo J. Badolato; and her siblings Henry J. Brady Jr. of Horsham, PA, Catherine J. Cunnington of Harrisburg, PA, Robert E. Brady of South Wales, PA, and Gregory L. Brady of Churchville, PA.

Mary Ann was born in Winsted, CT to Henry J. and Margaret L. (Corso) Brady, where she attended Saint Anthony School. Her family moved to the Philadelphia area and she graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in 1964. She earned her associate’s degree from Pierce Junior College of Business in Philadelphia. Mary Ann and Joseph married in June 1968 and they began their lives together in the U.S. Air Force, with Joseph’s first assignment to Rapid City, SD. Joe’s military career took them across the U.S. and to Germany, but they made Northern Virginia their permanent home after multiple tours of duty at the Pentagon and Joe’s eventual retirement and return to civilian life.

Mary Ann was an avid walker, crossword puzzler, and number one fan at her grandchildren’s sporting events. She served Prince William County for 25 years as a planning and zoning administrator in the country planning office, as an election officer, and as a volunteer at Potomac Hospital. She resided in Lake Ridge, VA for more than 30 years and had recently relocated to the Ashby Ponds community in Ashburn, VA.

A special thanks to the staff of Maple Grove at Ashby Ponds and Capital Caring Hospice for their genuine care and support to the entire family.

A family funeral service will be held at the Fort Myer Old Post Chapel followed by internment at Arlington National Cemetery.
