Obituary of Joan Ann Ciehoski

Joan Ann Ciehoski of Sterling, VA, passed away on January 23, 2020. She was the loving wife of Ronald Ciehoski, loving mother of Diane and Paul Ciehoski and loving grandmother of Nicole and Rachel Ciehoski. Joan was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA; the oldest daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Rybak) Pegarella. Joan received her Registered Nurse certificate from The General Hospital Nursing School in Wilkes-Barre PA.  Joan and Ron purchased the 13th home in Sterling Park and have resided there for the past 57 years.  Joan was a homemaker and substitute nurse for the Loudoun County Public Schools. She was a founding member of the Sterling Women’s Club and served on the Advisory Board for Loudoun County Libraries and the Friends of the Library.  She loved sports, an avid fan of the Washington Nationals and Redskins.   She loved flowers, classical music, collected baby dolls,  and her weekly passion playing bingo. Joan was a member of Christ the Redeemer Church of Sterling and St. Jude Roman Catholic Church at Lake Anna, where they enjoyed their lake home. Joan is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ron; their daughter, Diane Ciehoski and her partner Patricia Anderson, son Paul Ciehoski and his wife, Marilee. In addition, she is survived by two granddaughters; Nicole and Rachel Ciehoski as well as her siblings; Eleanor True, Joseph Pegarella and his wife, Pat, Louise Martin, Edmund Pegarella, Diane Olejar and her husband, John and the late Donna Davino and her husband, Bob as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She is loved and beloved by all who knew her. Friends will be received on Sunday, January 26, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon VA. A private internment will follow on Monday in St. Jude’s Cemetery.
