Obituary of Merle S. McKoy Martin

Merle Stephanie (McKoy) Martin, age 90 of Great Falls, Virginia passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2020. She was born in Moneague, Saint Ann, Jamaica on Saturday, April 6, 1929.

Merle spent more than 40 years working in the telecommunications and banking industry. She was the sole provider for her 3 younger siblings, after losing their mother to an oral infection at the tender age of 14. She was a devoted Christian and enjoyed traveling the world with her daughter.

Merle was blessed with the doctors who cared for her as though she was their own family; especially, Dr. Young D. Park, MD Cardiologist. Her daughter Claudette (Kaye), grandniece Shaniece (Shan), great grandniece Logan, cousins Linda, Jason, close friends Joan, Dania, Monica, and Eloise, were all by her side. Merle found her internal peace and was ready for her new life's adventure. Merle was sincearly loved not only in her home country of the United States of America, but also across the globe- from South Africa, England, Canada, and Jamaica.  Rest in Peace Mom. You are forever in our hearts.

Merle is preceded in death by her parents Hubert Ewen McKoy and Janett (Payne) McKoy, her son Andrew Martin, her brothers Harrington McKoy and Owen McKoy.

Merle is survived by her beloved children Claudette (Kaye) Martin, Gordon Martin, loving sister Enid (McKoy) Black, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, and great grand nieces and nephews.
