I knew Gene through Meal on Wheels. He was always a bright spot on delivery day, inviting conversation and showing off the progress on his latest car project. He occasionally called in to complement our latest volunteer or offer constructive criticism on the meals and we would chat for several minutes. I will miss his wonderful attitude and engaging smile.

Those of us who loved Gene, and that was everyone who met him, new a man of so many talents it would be impossible to list them all. I had the privilege to know him for over forty years and pleasure to play music for thirty five or more of them. The Wednesday night jams bluegrass festivals at Gettysburg all of the other mischief that us old guys get into will remain memories for a lifetime. He was known by many names (Gene, Mr. Magoo, Luther and a few others. He was loved by everyone and will be missed by all of us. Rest in Gods Light.

I was very sadden to hear this news. :( The loss of Gene AKA Mr Magoo
I meet Mr Magoo 30 years ago with my husband Mickey Blue. He was holding a Blue Grass Jam in his garage that night . It was filled with lots of talented people and what a badass jam it was... I remember it just like it was yesterday.. We had some great times hanging out with Gene.
There is so much I can say about him. He was such a very kind ,loving, great spirit, big heart, very humble, caring, talented, wonderful ,beautiful person. Oh I could go on... But when you meet him he loved you as family...
I will miss your big beautiful smile , your music and your singing..
Heaven has gained another beautiful Angel!! I can hear you playing in Heaven..... until we meet again Mr Magoo XOXO

Where do I begin, I’ve known you as far back as I can remember. I just talked to you just weeks ago. I ALWAYS looked forward to our chats and shared silly stuff about the ole man, cars, and music. Many thanks for all the memories, and for playing at the ole mans funeral. Now you rejoin him to play for the angels. Give him a big old hug for me! Luther, I will miss you so dearly. My Mr. Magoo, love you, Missy
