Grandma Mallon's birthday, but I don't remember which one! I think this might have been taken at Coco's restaurant or maybe Soup Plantation in La Mesa.

When I was a little girl, I admired my Aunt Toni so much. She was strong and independent and witty and fun. I got to watch her balance single motherhood & her career while maintaining her own identity. One summer when we visited, Virginia seemed so different from San Diego: muggy and humid, letting us kids play in the wilderness at the end of the street, and eating whole crabs for dinner on a table covered with newspaper.
As I grew older, I cherished our relationship. She loved me enough to visit me wherever I was living, San Fran or NJ. And when I lived in NYC, we made so many more fun memories, from Mother’s Day in Ellicott City to Thanksgiving in Winder.
We had the bonds of family but the hearts of friends. I’ll love her forever and ever.

Thank you Kara for sharing your photographs and memories of my mom...I love to hear how she inspired and treated all wonderful people that came into her life. She will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion she had for others. Love you cousin.

So many childhood memories at Toni's house with my cousins growing up and holidays spent together, but my favorite memories are of our trips in recent years to the beach and Florida. I got to know her as an adult. We shared morning coffee every day on these trips talking about kids and puppies and books we were reading. On my last trip to see her she requested a Duck Donut and asked all about my kids. She smiled and told stories and talked about her "good life". She was loved and loved well ❤️

Toni was one of the first people we met in Compass Pointe. She was so friendly and welcoming to us, and she always had a smile when we saw her. It was a blessing to know her.
