Very Fond Memories of Shirley go back to the late 70s and early 80s in Old Sterling. I would hang out in the garage while Grandad, Bobby(Mr.Fox) and Rob. They would all work on their Dump Trucks and Rob's cars.
Shirley (Mrs.Fox) would often come out and ask if I needed anything. She was one of the few parents that would call me out( but in the most endearing way) for my sarcasm.
Maybe something like "listen to you" and laugh. That's all that was needed.
I Stayed over night in WV a few years ago while in town for Bobbies funeral. She was in good spirits and poured her her love out to me by feeding me, and feeding me....The good spirits threw me off a bit.
She taught me so much about love of life, love of a spouse and appreciation of life and faith in that brief period of time.
We went to Breakfast the next morning. I snuck away from the table to pay to only find out she already paid for it. Hmm good one Shirley.
I remember Mr. and Mrs Fox took like 4 of Debbie's friends and 4 of Robbie's friends to Rohobeth Beach as teenagers (wow!)
A small army and she cooked for us all.
The best Lazagna in the world.....
Have fun hanging with Jesus, say hi to Mr.. Fox for me.
Rest in peace Shirley.
Your human form may be missed but your spirit lives on by sharing your heart with so many. Until I see you again. Thanks for the memories and personal growth.

I knew Shirley through the eyes of her daughter Debi. Shirely was always present in Debi's life and that meant she was always present in Debi's friends' lives. Knowing Debi since 9th grade, I feel like I spent part of my life with Shirley and will always remember her with a big smile on a tiny lady who moved very fast! Just like her daughter, she was filled with love.

Shirley was one of the best pleasant, fun and loving cousin a person cousin a person could have. We were very close as kids and as we grew up we still kept in touch with each other. I know she is with her only love of her life her husband.

Such a lovely tribute to your Mom and totally encapsuled her spirit. What a joi de vive she had. Always smiling and warm. We will miss her presence on earth but am glad she is reunited with her true love, Bobby. They are laughing and dancing together up there. Good people, salt of the earth.

I am so saddened by the loss of little Shirley. I met Debi in third grade at Sterling Elementary and we've remained friends since then. Needless to say, I spent countless days at the Fox's house on Shaw road, mostly sun bathing by the pool with Debi. Mrs. Fox always welcomed me, made me feel at home, took us shopping, and made the best tomato sandwiches! Little Shirley was fun, giddy about life, and always had a big smile on her face, and such a memorable laugh. It drove Debi crazy but I thought it was really sweet! I always told Debi, your mom is just like you - or was Debi just like her mom?!!
I can't remember the last time I saw Mrs. Fox but for the last nineteen years she has always remembered us. She was so thoughtful and kind and would send us anniversary cards. Each year my kids received a birthday card with a little $urprise! It really touched my heart that she kept us in her thoughts. So we would send her thank you notes and include pictures. I hope she knew how special that was for us. I will miss you little Shirley. I know you are laughing and dancing again with Bobby. ~~She filled our lives with happiness and sweet feelings that we will carry in our hearts forever~~ Love, Cristina

Shirley was such a kind, generous and caring person. She always remembered every birthday and anniversary in the extended family. Always cheerful and positive and ready to laugh. We will all miss her. It's very hard to realize she is no longer with us but we pray and trust that she is united again with Mr. Fox in heaven, and that is comforting. The photo we included shows Shirley swing dancing with Maryam at a family holiday gathering just a few years ago and that perfectly captures Shirley's love of family and life. Mrs. Fox was always so happy and cheerful. We loved getting a chance to spend time with her when she was visiting with Debi and Ali and her grandsons. I always appreciated the way she included Sabina in the activities with her grandkids. Sabina loved that time with her. We have missed seeing her recently and are so thankful to have known her.

Shirley was such a spark of light when she attended our Red Hat Ladies functions! Her smile and fun attitude was contagious. Her costumes were so cute and she wasn't afraid to dress for the occasion. I will truly miss her and the joy she always brought with her.

We were incredibly saddened to hear of Mrs. Fox’s passing. Tears of sadness and joy that we knew such an incredible lady! She was truly one of a kind! So many were touched by her in our Family through the years and each time leaving an impact on our hearts! I know it was said but so true how every Anniversary we could count on her remembering us and sending a card to remember our special day for the last 24 years soon to be 25. She always remembered our daughter Katelyn’s birthday too and we were just looking at one of her cards from her 16th Birthday and brought smiles to our face. She also drove out for her HS graduation party even though folks were leery for her to make the trip. We are so grateful to have been a part of her thoughts and life! Our deepest sympathy to Rob, Debi, Ali, Shaw, Sterling and Family. Please know we are with you all in spirit during this difficult time! Many prayers lifted for Family & Friends. As Debi's friend since 8th grade, I was blessed to experience the love and joy that Shirley exuded for many, many years. You could feel it when you went to their cute house on Shaw road. She had the biggest smile and infectious laugh! We did some crazy things in our teenage years but she never got mad at us--well maybe at Debi but not me or the rest of our large friend group. You were welcomed like family every time you visited. She loved to talk, she loved life and loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. It was fun to watch Shirley and Debi interact. They had a special way of showing their love but you knew it was such a strong mother daughter bond. What an angel Debi was for Shirley especially at the end of her journey. Rest in peace Shirley and thank you for being a role model as a hard-working and loving mother and grandmother.

Shirley was a blessing to all who knew her. Spending time with her was so much fun. She was such a giving person and loved to help people. She loved her family, friends, and cat. Debi, Rob and family,
We are so sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you through this most difficult time. Your Mom and Dad were an enormous portion of the fabric that comprised all of us growing up in Old Sterling. Shirley was wonderful during my mother’s battle with cancer. She brought her things, visited her at hospice, and checked in with me regularly for updates. When I think of her, all I see is that gigantic smile that encompassed her face, and her contagious laughter. May she rest in peace, and she is now up in heaven dancing once again with her beloved Bobby

Aunt Shirley was an amazing aunt. Always there for me and my siblings. She had a great sense of humor, whenever she was around everyone was laughing. We always teased her about her quirky clothes and she would just laugh at us. She was such a genuine person, you could see it in her eyes.

Shirley was always welcoming and sweet. She did Love everybody. I remember those memorial day picnics where she and Bobby would always bring more food than we had people for, so she made everyone take something home with them. She had a laugh and a smile that would light up a room. She and Bobby were always ready to go to a dance. I hope and pray that she is now dancing with her husband and Jesus. We love you Shirley RIP.
