Obituary of Shirley Ann Nicholson

Shirley Ann Nicholson, 83, of Centreville, VA, passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2020.

Shirley was born on November 12, 1936 in Braggs, OK to the late AZ Tyler and the late Sleetie Rowland Tyler.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carroll Nicholson, one grandson David Nicholson, and four brothers, Tim, Leonard, Jack and Fred Tyler.

Shirley loved working and even more loved her co-workers. She worked for several years at Paktron in Alexandria, and then moved on to the Central Intelligence Agency, where she retired in 2002. After her husband passed in 2004, Shirley decided to return to work at the Fairfax County Government Registrars Office, where she worked for 10 years and finally retired at the age of 80. When she wasn’t working, Shirley loved to read and work in her garden.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Stokes and husband Calvin of Charles Town, WV and her son James Nicholson and wife Kay of Fredericksburg, VA. One grandson, Andrew Nicholson, two granddaughters, Shannon Fesperman and Tara Faulk and four great grandchildren, Josephine, Samantha, Michael and Joshua.

Shirley will be cremated and inurned in her Tyler family cemetery in Braggs, OK. A memorial service will be arranged and announced when it is safe for family and friends to gather.
