Obituary of Khalil George Hadeed

Khalil George Hadeed died peacefully at his home in Herndon, Virginia on April 2, 2020.  Born in Ramallah on July 6,1935 to the late Jirius Hadeed and Misadeh (Sahourieh) Hadeed, Khalil left Ramallah as a young teenager and settled in Washington DC.  He attended Gonzaga College High School and Georgetown University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree from the Walsh School of Foreign Service.  Khalil also proudly served in the U.S. Army and enjoyed his time stationed in Denmark and Germany.   In 1963 Khalil married Nancy (Ayoub) Hadeed and together they raised three children (Charles G. Hadeed, Helena Hadeed Astolfi and Kareem D. Hadeed).  Khalil, along with his wife Nancy, started a successful marketing business which they maintained until his death.  Khalil was also very active in the local Ramallah community.  He worked diligently to merge the Virginia and Maryland communities into one club and served as President of the Washington DC Ramallah Club. His favorite past-times were listening to Arabic music, playing the Oud, and educating anyone he met about the Palestinian cause.  He was one of the proudest Palestinians you would ever meet and instilled this in his children and grandchildren. He was an active and contributing member of numerous organizations that promoted the Palestinian cause.  Khalil was an unforgettable man, whose zest for healthy living was undeniable and ahead of its time.  His laughter, lectures and love remain embedded in the memories of all those who had the privilege of being loved by him.  He was a good husband and father, but an exceptional Cedo to his grandchildren - they were the true joys of his life.  He was a loyal and devoted friend and enjoyed spending time with his large extended family.  Khalil is preceded to eternal life by his parents and siblings, Akram Hadeed, Leila Fattaleh, Wadia Sininger, Kareemah Boardman and Amal Alion.  Khalil is survived by wife Nancy and three children, as well as his siblings Mary Fattaleh, Janef Bateh and Theodore Hadeed.  He leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much and of whom he is very proud.  He will be missed dearly and remembered forever.

A memorial service will be held July 11, 2020 at 11AM at Holy Transfiguration Melkite Greek Catholic Church, 8501 Lewinsville Rd, McLean, VA 22102.  Khalil will be intered with Military Honors at Arlington Cemetery at a date yet to be determined.
