Obituary of Henrietta Garza Zepeda

Henrietta Garza Zepeda, 81, of San Antonio, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020, in Reston, VA.

Henrietta “Henri” was born July 15, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas to Erasmo and Rita Garza. She was a graduate of Fox Tech High School in San Antonio and went on to work for Sidermex until her retirement. In 1964, Henri married the love of her life, Antonio Zepeda, and together they raised two sons, Anthony and Duane.

Henri was a loving mother and dedicated wife. She worked hard for her family and strove to give the best to her husband and sons. Henri was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She loved being a mother and wife, entertaining and hosting gatherings at her home, traveling, shopping with friends, going to dances, and being an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX.

Henri is survived by her two sons, Anthony and his wife Mary Ann McGarry, and their children Nicholas and Alexander; and Duane and his wife A. Leigh Zepeda, and their children Violet and Everett. Henri’s surviving siblings are Rita Sarbach, and Richard Garza; three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and many special nieces, nephews, cherished family members, and friends.

Henri was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Antonio Zepeda; her parents Erasmo and Rita Garza; and her brothers, Edward Garza and Johnny Garza.

Henri’s love and kindness were felt by all who knew her. She is a shining example of one that lives each day to the fullest, and she joyfully shared her energy and spirit with all those she met. We will always treasure her wisdom, faith, love and friendship.

Rosary and Memorial Mass of the Christian Burial with internment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX will take place at a future date yet to be determined.
