Obituary of Jorge Rengifo Garcia

Jorge Rengifo García, 80, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the INOVA Loudoun Hospital in Lansdowne, Leesburg, Virginia.  Jorge was born September 20, 1939 in Iquitos, Perú to Estanislao Rengifo Alava and Angelica García Fernández, the only son of 4 children.

 

Jorge grew up in Iquitos, Perú and graduated from St. Augustine Catholic School (Colegio San Augustin de Iquitos) in 1957. He loved sports, especially soccer where his favorite teams were C.N.I (Colegio Nacional de Iquitos) and “U” (Universitario de Deportes).  He also enjoyed traveling within the US and abroad. He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting at the prestigious National University of San Marcos (Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos).

He worked as an accounting for 10 years in Electro-Perú, Lima, Perú before immigrated to the United States in the late 70’s.

 

Jorge is survived by his wife, Victoria Cordova de Rengifo; daughter and son-in-law Patricia Paulet and César Ricardo Paulet; daughter and son-in-law Sandra Monica Rengifo and Manuel Gutierrez; sons Estanislao Rengifo Cordova, Jorge Rengifo Cordova and Javier Rengifo Cordova; 6 grandchildren, André Paulet, Brigitte Paulet, Evan Estanislao Rengifo, Maria de Lurdes Rengifo Hernández, Paola Victoria Rengifo and Stephanie Monica Gutierrez; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Emilse Jokic, Odisa Lima and Ruth Elena Rengifo Garcia; 1 survived niece, Melissa Krushinski and 3 survived nephews, Esteban Jokic, Marino Lima and Oscar Augusto Sierra.

 

The family wishes to thank those whose who have extended financial and emotional support for Jorge during his final years. Jorge will be laid to rest on Monday, May 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon, Virginia.
