Obituary of Christine P. Nordseth

Christine P. Nordseth, 88, of Leesburg, Virginia passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020.  Born on February 1, 1932, she was the 11th out of 13 children born to Gusta Mae Byrd Phillips and Perry Clifton Phillips.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Alvin, Bernie, Roy, Charles, John and Herman, and her sisters Helen Woods, Lorene Smith, Betty Treadway and Nellie Fox.  She also recently lost her beloved grandson Erik Nordseth and great-grandson Brooks Mullen.

Survivors include her two sisters, Shirley Wren (Jimmy), who recently celebrated a 72nd wedding anniversary, and Jean Fippin.  Christine is also survived by her four loving children, Lori Clogg (Jay), Lynn Nordseth (Rusty), Linda Mullen (Kenny) and Larry Nordseth, as well as her adored grandchildren Mary Reid (Robbie), James Mullen (Amy), Thomas Mullen (Kara), Danny Mullen, Sarah Nordseth, Anna Nordseth, Rebecca Nordseth, Jennifer Clogg and Lauren Nordseth.  She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Colt Mullen and Haven Mullen.  Christine was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Christine was a wonderful, caring mother, sister, neighbor and friend and brightened the day of everyone she met.  She loved flowers and gardening, as well as her collection of angels. 

A resident of the DC area since 1954, Christine worked for the FBI, then Government Services Agency (GSA), where she was involved in purchasing all of the land to build the Dulles Toll Road.  After a hiatus raising her family, she returned to the Social Security Administration, ending her career in 2003 with the Congressional Office of Hearings and Appeals. 

There will be a viewing on Friday, June 12 from 4-7 p.m. at Adams Green Funeral Home (Masks required).  Funeral Services will be on Saturday, June 13th at 10 a.m. the Adams Green Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment at Lovettsville Union Cemetery.  A reception will be held immediately thereafter at Christine’s home in Leesburg, VA.
