On Monday, June 22, 2020, Thomas F. Campenni, loving and devoted husband and father, passed away at the age of 86.

Tom was born on July 12, 1933 in Pittston, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Dorothy (Stolz) Campenni.  He graduated from St. John the Evangelist High School in 1951 and went on to earn a degree in Economics from King’s College in Wilkes Barre, Pa.

Tom worked in the financial services industry serving in executive positions for Commercial Credit Corporation and Citigroup in a career spanning 40 years.

On October 10, 1959, he married the love of his life Mary Ellen Dargis.  They raised 3 daughters, Susan, Carolyn, and Kathleen.

After retiring, Tom and Mary Ellen relocated from Maryland to Hammock Dunes, an oceanfront golf community in Palm Coast, Florida.  He was an active member of the community serving a stint as President of Hammock Dunes Club and several terms as the President of his condominium, as well as serving on the Finance Committee of his Church.  In September, 2015, they relocated to Leesburg, Va to be close to family, where he again, served as Condominium President in the Lansdowne Woods Community.

Tom was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast.  On the golf course or the bocce court, he loved to compete.  He was a loyal life long fan of his beloved New York Yankees and New York Giants.  He and Mary Ellen loved to travel and their trips took them all over the globe.  He loved living on the water in both Lewes, Delaware and Florida and, also, loved the mountains where he summered in the Poconos as a child and the mountains of North Carolina later in life.

Tom was a caring, dedicated, loving husband, father, and friend.  He was admired and respected, professionally and personally, by all that knew and loved him, for his kindness and integrity.  He was a true and devout believer of his faith and lived that faith every day of his life.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Dorothy, brothers James and Robert, daughter Susan, and grandson, John.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Ellen, daughters Carolyn and Kathleen, grandson, Joshua, brother William (Kathleen), and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 at the Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Sterling, VA at 11:00 am.

Donations in his name can be made to: LCFR Fire Station #622, 19485 Sandridge Way, Leesburg, Va 20176.
