To the Shields family,
Over the weekend I tried calling Thel. After he retired I kept in touch and called or met him for lunch once a year. Both his cell and home numbers were not in service and I found this obituary when I tried looking for contact information for him. I have not been able to sleep since. I really miss my great friend Thel. Thel was my first lead when I started working at IBM. Throughout my career I have always consulted with him on many career and technical decisions. Thel was truly a gentleman, very kind and humble. He was like an uncle to me. My deepest sympathies to Thelbert III and Robby and the rest of your family. Your father was always so proud of you and always talked about you. From when you were in high school, to your college days and then professional careers. May he rest in peace.
