A quick memory with Uncle Jim: The Memorial Day ‘fun’ run is a staple in every child born and raised in Falls Church. Getting that bright colored tee shirt every year was something that everyone prided themselves on achieving. One year, Uncle Jim and I walked the race together, about halfway through, I asked Uncle Jim to just quit the race with me and take me to the McDonald’s, but he laughed and we finished the race. Uncle Jim never took short cuts. He always finished everything he started and with kindness. He woke up everyday and did the right thing and the kind thing. For the past few years, he has sent me photos from my short lived childhood ballet career as well as photos with my childhood dog. He made sure that he capture moments that he knew were fleeting. He held himself to the highest of standards and the truest example of a life full of integrity. The world lost one of the greatest. I only can hope that I can try and constantly remind myself to hold myself to a higher level of integrity. The way we can honor Uncle Jim is to constantly remind ourselves that hard work, family and kindness are the keys to success. He proved that these three components make for a successful and happy life. Love you, Uncle Jim.

I am sad to learn of Jim's passing. I was his classmate at CUA and shared an apartment with Jim as we worked at the same Naval facility as civilian engineers. Jim was very smart, very athletic, and very generous. I remember Jim driving around in his GTO after graduation and his athletic feats as a wrestler and a football player.
May Jim rest in peace.
Best wishes to Chris and his family.

Jim Miller was an amazing, kind soul who raised an amazing family with his incredible wife! He will be missed terribly by everyone who met him but his spirit will live on with his amazing family. He was such a good man and would do anything for his family and anyone he met. I became friends with Amy in High School and the entire family treated me like I was part of their family and immediately he was there whenever needed. The world is definitely a darker place without this beautiful soul and I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to know him. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family! XOXOXO

Jim and I met during his Freshman year at Catholic University. He joined Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity, and I was his PledgeMaster. Jim was always a large presence, whether wrestling or playing touch football, but he was also the a most gentle man, and gentleman. Years after graduating from CUA, Jim joined an informal Geezer Golf group of CUA alumni, and we played golf twice a year every year for about the past 30 years. Even when he had back problems, Jim always showed up, and enjoyed the camaraderie of his long time friends and fraternity brothers. Hosted by fellow Phi Kap brother Ed Liddy, Jim and seven others in his 1965 Phi Kap pledge class had a mini reunion at Ed's home in Naples, Florida. Everyone had a good laugh when I brought along my Phi Kap 'fraternity paddle' that kept "my Pledges" in line! That weekend was my last and best memory with Jim. Rest in peace, Jim. See you on the tee box at the great golf course in the hereafter. "Skoro" (aka Gene Skoropowski)

That is some sad news. Jim’s passing is the end of an era. My deepest condolences go out to Chris and the rest of Jim’s family and friends. I’m sure that they all will miss him very much. His passing will leave a large hole in all their lives.
Jim and Chris seem to have an ideal multi-decade love affair that the rest of us fans struggling to maintain relationships could only envy. The two of them just seemed to get it right. I’m glad that Chris seems to have an extensive collection of close family and friends to help her through her grief.
