Obituary of Douglas Christian McCoy

On Tuesday, February 14, 2012, Douglas C. McCoy passed away at his home in Reston, VA. He was the loving and devoted father of Paul McCoy. He is also survived by his mother, Annelise Andersen McCoy of Bluffton, SC; his former wife, Jean Lenahan McCoy of Reston, VA; his brother Richard of Montana; and father Richard of Texas. Doug was born in California on July 15, 1961. He grew up living all over the world including Greece, Turkey, Israel, Yugasolvia, and Guyana. He graduated high school from Fork Union Military Academy, Fork Union, VA. After graduating from Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country honorably as an officer in the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion stationed out of Camp Lejeune, NC. He also served his country as a Special Agent for the U.S. State Department where he provided security for foreign dignitaries including the late Princess Diana. Most recently, Doug had a successful career in business development in the information technology industry. He also earned an MBA from Virginia Tech and a Master's in International Economics and Global Affairs from George Mason University. Doug will most be remembered as the very proud father of Paul, his greatest creation. He also will be remembered for his love of history, baseball, constant learning, and the Corps. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, February 23, at Adams-Green Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will be held at Quantico National Cemetery on Friday, February 24 at 11 am. Friends are asked to meet at the Pavilion at 10:45 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project .
