Robert M. Long, "Bob"

age 93, formerly of Hagaman, NY, passed away September 23, 2020 peacefully with family by his side. He was born July 29, 1927 on the family farm to Harriet and Alfred Long in Callicoon, NY. Bob received his Mechanical Engineering degree from RPI in Troy, NY in 1949 where he met the love of his life. He married Betty Popp, September 29, 1951. Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Judy Bixler (Thomas), R. James ”Jim” Long (Lynda), Kenneth “Ken” Long (Margaret), 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings, Harold Long, Edna Wagner, Clinton “Red” Long” and Betty Kulakosky.

 

Bob was the plant engineer at Mohasco Industries for many years then went on to lead Decora Industries. He was involved in many civic organizations including serving as a long time board member and former President of the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and the Sanford Home.

 

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved sports including the Yankees and the NY Giants. Most importantly he cherished spending time with his loving family.
