Obituary of Konstantina "Dina" Stoides

Please share a memory of Konstantina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Konstantina “Dina” Stoides (76 years old) passed away on the 22nd of December 2020 in Loudoun County, Virginia, her home for almost 50 years.  She was born in Krokeas, Greece on the 24th of January 1944 and raised in Athens.  She immigrated to the United States in 1961 upon her marriage to the late John G. Stoides.  She was the matriarch of our family and our North Star.  She was a true Spartan and a woman for all seasons, lovingly fulfilling many roles — wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and friend.  Her endless love for her granddaughters, in whom she had immense pride and joy, knew no boundaries and resulted in her most treasured role — YIAYIA.   She was the devoted and loving mother of Kathy (Mike), Bessie (Manny) and George. She was and will always be Yiayia of Chresanthe, Dina and Anastasia Staurulakis, Dina Phipps and Dina Anne Stoides.  She is survived by her sister Evgenia (Kostas), her niece Maria and her nephews Panos and Antypas, of Athens, Greece; her brother-in-law Dino Stoides; her goddaughter Sherri Brendesen and her family, and her godson John Kotsis and his family.

Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed and so very dear —

We will always remember you, our beloved and cherished mother and yiayia, and all the love, song, beauty, elegance, grace, style, delicious food and devotion with which you filled our lives.

Because of covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral service was held on December 28, 2020.  A memorial service will be held at a later time so that all who loved Dina may pay their respects.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Greek Orthodox Church of St George in Bethesda, Maryland.
