One of the countries dear Elaine and her husband Bill lived was Turkey. They were our neighbours. Altough I was a little younger then her we made good friends in those few years in Balıkesir. It is been 53 years since they left Balıkesir for Ankara then the States.
We almost never lost contact, we kept writing to each other through years. She even once came back to Balıkesir to visit my mother, (her Turkish Mother) although my mother was not anymore there she, insisting to find her ,was successful. Later in İstanbul we met and had a very nice time, short though.
Years later we lost contact somehow. I tried hard to find her address using social media, finally one day I saw some friend's of her facebook account. There she was in a picture with a group of people. I wrote my comments and asked for a reply right away. So it started our contact again, until I couldn't get a response to my Christmas Celebration. Then
somehow I found myself waiting for a word from her daugters. I was and am very sorry to have lost her.
So sad though, I thank you for not leaving me without news Addrienne.Having known Elaine was so precious.
I would like you, the whole family, to accept my deepest condolances. May you sleep in peace Elaine Leo.
